Dr Owen Hee is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in cataract surgery, glaucoma and general ophthalmology providing a comprehensive range of treatments for: myopia control, diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration, retinal and other eye related conditions. He has been practicing Ophthalmology for over 15 years.
Dr Owen received both his undergraduate and postgraduate training in London. In 2011, he was awarded a scholarship from Tan Tock Seng Hospital to undergo further postgraduate training in London. He sub specializes in Glaucoma and is accredited to perform various Minimally-invasive Glaucoma Surgeries (MIGS). In addition, he has received specialised training in health services research, looking into cost effective care delivery in specialist eye care to improve the value of care for patients and studying models of care in improving early detection of eye diseases so that patients with early mild eye conditions receive early treatment before their vision is irreversibly affected. This work has also led to Dr Owen's appointment as Part-time Consultant at the Ministry of Health providing Ophthalmology expert advice to the Policy, Research and Evaluation office at the Ministry of Health.
In his earlier training, Dr Hee rotated through the Singapore National Eye Center, Department of Ophthalmology at the National University Hospital and the Eye Centre at KK Hospital. As a result, he is well versed in the comprehensive care of a wide range of eye conditions.
Previously, Dr Owen was Senior Consultant at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI). He was also the Quality Review Officer of NHGEI, with the responsibility of monitoring and improving the quality and safety of care for the whole Institute. Dr Owen is passionate about Quality and Safety in healthcare and has served on the faculty of the Clinical Practice Improvement Programme at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He has also been active in training and education, serving as Clinical Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Clinical Tutor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
